Trine Søndergaard - Exploring empitness from within

Astrid Jensen - Beauty will always be disturbed

The finally arrival of Spring.
Is another good reason to go to LOUISIANA.
Yesterday I heard Architect Kasper Guldager Jørgensen from the Danish studio 3XN talk about “The Inner Beauty of the Material” that took place in Louisiana’s beautiful concert hall.
Kasper is also director of GXN which is a research - and innovation unit in the office, and enriches 3XN´s projects with different - and often-art technological angles.
Before, it is requested to enjoy LOUISIANA restaurant’s gourmet buffet and take a stroll around in the exhibitions and especially in the beautiful garden with directly views to Oeresund, which is one of the reason why LOUISIANA is hard not to be very fund of!
If you don’t have the opportunity to visit LOUISIANA right now, right here - the museum has been so brilliant, making a LOUISIANA CHANNEL where you can wallow around in delicious interviews and films with all kinds of artists in photography, art, fashion, architecture among more.
A few of my favorites is put in links below images!

^ ^ MAXXI - National Museum of the 21st Century Arts in Rome.
Impressive, brutalistic and organic architecture from 2009 by the famous Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid.

^ ^ TERROIR installation in the exhibition out of an overall contribution of 8 installations by younger architect offices.

The exhibition is called “ENERGY - Oil & Post-Oil Architecture and Grids” - and seeks discussion of a not so simple question being:
In the future which spaces and devices will allow the individual citizen access to energy for movement and for all of their other needs?
Where will we get “fuel”? What will “fuel” be like?
Above all, the exhibition asks:
How will architecture contribute to the new scenarios, taking for granted that the range of forms and sources of energy will not remain unchanged?

^ ^ TERROIR approaches the theme with an installation consisting of four ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURES - monuments of each an energy source being geothermal, wind, solar and tidal.

^ ^ TERROIR is an Australian office - therefore our site is of course the continent of Australia.

^ ^ Geothermal Energy Infrastructure

^ ^ Wind Energy Infrastructure

^ ^ The two beautiful sculptures of kangaroo skins represent this very typical Australian animal that constantly cross the highways throughout Australia.
The skins come from four different type of kangaroos from different part of Australia representing the four different energy sources.

^ ^ Tidal Energy Infrastructure

Teaseren. Må have varet længe nok.
Nyd karamellen!

Teaser. Must have lasted long enough.
And time is now up for. Il Gran Finale.
Which is a bit of a delicious caramel. You can chew on for a long time.
And if you think. This is a very anti-architectural language.
So read on and the whole, true and architectural narrative will hereby be given:
“The Australian film Mad Max showed a lawless future in a post-apocalyptic world.
Released in the same year as the Genova Convention, the film was an elegy for a ruined future.
Mad Max took the genre of the mid-twentieth century American road movie, full of hope and hubris, and turned it into a morally ambivalent comic opera of despair.
Likewise, we would like to transform the road.
Our project envisages an Energetic Architecture that is not a series of disconneted filling stations but an energy network coextensive with the freeway itself.
The road which posed the problem becomes the solution; a continuous organism that provides its own sustenance.
The proposed network distributes power obtained from a variety of sustainable sources at optimum locations.
These locations will be where wind, solar, geothermal, tidal and other forms of renewable energy can be generated by autonomous powerstations.
We propose installations that offer motorists a poetry of site and technology, a poetry of industrial adaption and invention mothered by desperate necessity.”
Enjoy your caramel!
